A practical underwear fit review

Define the wearer and fit

Identify the intended wearer, size range and style before sampling. Men's boxers and trunks, women's basic briefs, and boys' and girls' underwear need distinct fit references. A size label alone does not communicate the measurements or coverage you expect.

Make the measurements repeatable

Supply a measurement chart and explain how each point is measured. Agree the base size, grading and acceptable tolerances with the sampling team. Keep sample measurements and requested changes in one dated record so revisions can be compared consistently.

Check the fabric and trims together

Review rise, coverage, leg openings, seams and waistband or soft elastic trim. Consider pouch or gusset construction where relevant. Assess the actual fabric and elastic combination: a change of fabric or trim can change how the same pattern fits.

Agree the quality checks

Discuss shrinkage, colorfastness, seam strength and elastic recovery requirements before approval. Confirm the test method and acceptance criteria for your market or customer with the appropriate testing partner. A certification logo is not a substitute for checking the scope and validity of the relevant product documentation.

Close the approval loop
